Low Light Laser Therapy for Pain Relief

Low Light Laser Therapy (LLLT), also called Cold Laser Therapy, has been in use for treatment of pain in Europe and Asia for forty years. In 2002 this pain treatment was approved by the FDA for use in the Unites States for pain treatment.

This technology has also been cleared by the FDA for use in home pain treatment devices.

How Low Light Laser Therapy Works

Low Light Laser Therapy (LLLT) is Infrared Light concentrated to form a laser. The laser does not generate heat, hence the name of Cold Laser, and therefore there is no burning.

During this non-surgical pain treatment the device emits photons, which penetrate the skin in a similar manner to Infrared and Red Light devices. However, because the light beam in Low Light Laser Therapy is more concentrated, it can penetrate deeper to assist with deep muscle and joint pain.

What Types of Pain Can Infrared Light Therapy Treat?

Low Light Laser Therapy can treat chronic, acute and temporary inflammation, making it useful in the treatment of::

  • Arthritis
  • Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Knee pain
  • Tendonitis

Clinical Studies

211The efficacy of Infrared light therapy for the treatment of pain has been proven in various clinical studies.
